- Click Start>Settings>Devices.
- Choose Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner.
- Scroll down and click The printer that I want isn't listed.
- Select the Radio button for Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
- Click the Drop-down menu for Device type and choose TCP/IP Device. In the Hostname or IP address field, enter the name of the printer. Uncheck the box that says Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use.
- Select the radio button for Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended) and click Next.
- Change the name in the Printer name field to the name of the printer and add (Secure Print) at the end and click Next.
- Printer will install.
- Select the radio button for Do not share this printer and click Next.
- Check the box for Set as the default printer if desired and click Finish.
- Right-Click the Start button, choose Search, type Control Panel in the Search box and click on Control Panel when it appears in the list.
- This will bring up the Windows Classic Control Panel.
- Under Hardware and Sound, click View devices and printers.
- Right-Click on the Secure Print printer and choose Printer Properties.
- The printer properties window will open.
- Click the Preferences button.
- Click the drop down under Job Type and choose Secure Print.
- This will bring up the Secure Print Passcode window. Enter a 4-10 digit Passcode and Confirm. Click OK.
- IMPORTANT! This code cannot be recovered in any way. If the user forgets their Passcode, the Secure Print printer will have to be removed and re-added and any documents locked under the Passcode will have to be deleted.
- Click the drop down under 2-Sided Printing and choose 2-Sided Print.
- Click the Image Options Tab.
- Check the box for Xerox Black and White Conversion.
- Click OK.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the Printing Defaults... button.
- The next steps are the same as steps 17-22. This is intentional. These settings have to be set the same way in two different locations.
- Click the drop down under Job Type and choose Secure Print.
- This will bring up the Secure Print Passcode window. Enter a 4-10 digit Passcode and Confirm. Click OK.
