Union Dues

Use this article to clarify union fees for classified employees and/or adjust dues based on employee class. 

Step-by-step guide

  1. Classified (SEIU, UOPA, Teamsters) or GE employee receives a notification or information regarding the union and determine if they are going to join.

  2. Union fees are assessed at the rates represented in chart below.
  3. If an SEIU employee has signed up for contribution to the Political Action Fund, and additional amount will be collected. To stop this deduction, follow the same procedure as listed in step 4.
  4. When an SEIU employee moves into an Unclassified position, an SEIU deduction (Associate Dues) will continue unless formally cancelled by the employee in writing.  A letter must be signed and sent to:

  5. For Membership Cancellation:
    To cancel your membership with SEIU Local 503, OPEU, please send a letter with an original signature. This is the language to use in your original, signed letter: “I am requesting to drop my union membership.” Send to address above.

    This authorization is irrevocable for a period of one year from the date of execution and from year to year thereafter unless not less than thirty (30) and not more than forty-five (45) days prior to the end of any annual period or the termination of the contract between my employer and the Union, whichever occurs first, I notify the Union and my employer in writing, with my valid signature, of my desire to revoke this authorization.

  6. GTFF: Dues based on monthly salary amount.

    2.10% of Gross Pay

    Between $1,111.00  and $1,944.99

    2.20% of Gross Pay

    $1,945.00 or higher

    2.30% of Gross Pay

  7. SEIU: Service Employee International Union

    Dues (UAD) 

    1.70% of Gross Pay.  $5.00/month minimum.  Effective Feb 2003.

    SEIU Issues (UDA)

    $2.75/month for full time employees,

    SEIU Associate Dues (UAA)

    $10.00/month.

  8. UOPA: (University of Oregon Police Association): Dues are 1.7% of gross pay. Maximum $70.00/Month.

  9. Teamsters: Fixed monthly rate based on gross Pay
