Release from Trial Service

This process provides guidance for releasing an employee from Trial Service.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Supervisor outlines duties and expectations to employee as part of the onboarding process.
  2. Supervisor alerts FASS HR if there are concerns about an employee's performance, and carefully documents any instances of performance issues. 
  3. If the employee will not be completing their Trial Service period due to performance issues, Supervisor notifies FASS HR Director regarding release from Trial Service.

  1. FASS HR Director will schedule meeting with Supervisor to discuss performance severity of concerns and to compose a message to employee about expectations in a formal email.
  2. If concerns persist, FASS HR Director will coordinate with University HR Employee & Labor Relations (UHR ELR) to initiate Release from Trial Service.
  3. FASS HR Director gathers performance issue documentation from Supervisor and submits them to UHR ELR for review.
  4. UHR ELR approves the decision and FASS HR Director communicates the decision to Supervisor.
  5. FASS HR Director and Supervisor determine a release timeline.
  6. Supervisor schedules a meeting with the employee and formally dismisses the employee.
  7. FASS HR proceeds with the Employee Separation: Offboarding Ticket process.
