This process provides guidance for employee Performance Management between supervisors and their employees.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Supervisor outline duties and expectations to employee as part of the onboarding process.
  2. Supervisor alerts FASS HR if there are concerns about an employee's performance. 
  3. If the employee will not be completing their Trial Service period due to performance issues, Supervisor notifies FASS HR Director regarding release from Trial Service.
  4. At the 6-months check-in, the supervisor will notify the employee that they have successfully completed their Trial Service period.
  5. If employee performance issues arise after completion of employee's Trial Service period, Supervisor will contact FASS HR Director regarding concerns.

Classified Employees

  1. FASS HR will send a reminder to the supervisor for an informal check-in with their new employee at the 3-months, 6-months, and 9-months mark.
  2. FASS HR will send out a Performance Evaluation reminder to the supervisor before the employee's anniversary date, as per the Performance Evaluations: Classified Employees and Officers of Administration process.

Steps for FASS HR Director

  1. If an employee performance issue is identified, FASS HR Director will schedule a meeting with Supervisor to discuss concerns.
  2. If performance concerns become escalated FASS HR Director will coordinate with University HR Employee Labor Relations regarding a Progressive Discipline: Classified Employees or Release from Trial Service.
