AMAG - Access Codes
- Bill Anderson
What is an Access Code?
In Symmetry (AMAG) an access code is a combination of a time code and a device (or multiple devices) that grant access. When an access code is applied to multiple cardholders they all share the same points of access and the times they are allowed to use their cards. If you make a change to an access code in the future anyone with that access code will receive the change automatically. This is a great benefit when you compare it to adding a reader or reader group to a cardholder outside of an access code because you would need to open every cardholder record that had access assigned without an access code and change them one by one.

What if I need different hours for a specific day?
This can be done by using the Calendar tab in the Time Code screen. This leaves your standard weekly hours in place and allows for one-off access times for cardholders.
Select the day you want to have custom Hour for and select them from the drop down menu in the lower left. Click Assign and then OK. You can do this for for as many days as needed up to 5 years in the future.
When should I not use an Access Code?
Pretty much never. Please check with FASS IT so we can consult with you on how access is being applied to the cardholder before assigning access without using an Access Code.
